Drug and Alcohol Service for London

Advice & info for people with alcohol- and drug-related problems in Newham, Redbridge & Tower Hamlets. Counselling and a domestic violence service. Phone for an appointment. Also Gujarati, Hindi, Punjabi, Sylheti, Tamil, Urdu and access to interpreters.

Eritrean Community in the UK

Advice, information, support, advocacy and referral: education, training, employment/business start-ups, welfare rights, housing, immigration, health and culturally-based counselling etc.

Ethnic Alcohol Counselling in Hounslow (EACH)

Group work, day care and free counselling for people with alcohol, drug and mental health problems in Hounslow, Ealing, Harrow & Brent. Also for victims of domestic violence. Languages: Gujarati, Hindi, Punjabi, Farsi.

Gay Men’s Shared Housing Project

Medium-term accommodation-based support to gay men aged 18-65 who have been the victims of domestic or homophobic abuse/ violence. Confidence building, mental health, substance use and harm minimisation, boundaries, education and employment, sexual health awareness, relationship skills and personal safety.

Kiran - Asian Women's Aid

Refuge accommodation, advice and support for Asian women experiencing domestic violence. Help with benefits, legal issues, housing, health and training. Works with women with children from the Indian sub-continent, and from Turkey, Iran, Morocco, Malaysia etc. Outreach and resettlement services, including outreach for children. Drop in or phone.

Muslim Community Helpline

Part-time telephone support service for Muslim women who have experienced domestic violence.

Sangam Centre

Advice for the Asian and other local communities on housing, homelessness, benefits, employment, immigration and nationality, domestic violence. Legal advice sessions Saturdays. ESOL classes, IT training. Languages: Gujarati, Hindi, Urdu.

St Christopher's Fellowship (for runaway children)

The UK's only refuge for runaway children and is also a housing association for abused, neglected and disadvantaged children.

U-Turn Project

Works with women of all ages in Newham who have been trapped in cycles of prostitution, drug addiction, physical abuse and homelessness from a young age. Phone 020 8983 1553 or approach the U-turn vehicle on Monday evening.

Ashram Housing Association Reducing Domestic Violence Project

SAFE Project

Promotes the health and well-being of female sex workers (18+) in Birmingham, Sandwell and Walsall. This includes promoting personal safety and human rights, providing high quality health services and combating intimidation. Methadone project. Help for migrant sex workers. Free condoms. Valley House

Single people and parents with children, including women with or without children experiencing or escaping domestic violence/abuse, young homeless people, and young women who are pregnant or single parents. Training courses on IT skills, numeracy, literacy and personal development. Children's centre day nursery and activities. Referrals to other agencies for specialist help around drugs, alcohol, mental health.
